Choosing Paint Colors for the 1st Floor
One of my favorite features of our home is that you can see from one end of the first floor to the other, and each space is sectioned with either French doors or an encasement – sometimes both! It’s the OG version of “open concept,” you know, before HGTV got ahold of the idea and beat it to death. Since you can see from one end of our home to the other, cohesion across the color palette was a must.
Dining Room Progress
We first connected with a local woodworker to get a quote on adding a coffered ceiling to our dining room within a few weeks of moving in. After a little reflecting and balancing of our budget, we asked for a secondary quote to instead replace the crown molding with something historically accurate, add paneling above and below the chair rail, and add woodwork above the fireplace.
Main Hallway Upstairs
Moving from a cozy city apartment to a spacious single family home presented us with several new design challenges. How do you make a hallway / landing area look cozy and welcoming? Considering the scale of this space (this particular hallway opens up to our main staircase), our immediate thought was “big art, dope rugs”, a tried and true winner.
