Hi, nice to meet you.
We are Hilary and Ross, and we are so excited you are joining us on this journey. We met seven years ago in the midwestern metropolis of Chicago. Fun fact: Ross was Hilary’s first and only internet date, talk about a success rate!
Independently and together, we lived in a multitude of apartments on the west side of Chicago, mostly up and down Milwaukee Ave. Three months ago, we packed our bags, our 10 year old cattle dog, 8 month old son, and our green velvet couch and moved to the Chicago suburbs. After touring 30+ homes, both inside and outside of the city, it was as if we manifested this home out of thin air and finally found “the one.” It ticked every box on the list: warm and welcoming community, big yard, old home with a couple of major projects, historic charm, walkable schools, green spaces, and a local pool. Of course, we were nervous at first to leave the home we had poured so much love into, but now we pinch ourselves on the daily asking “is this real life?”
Our design sense is best described as curated maximalism. As much as we’ve tried to embrace minimalism and love a monochrome moment, we can’t get away from layering texture on texture. What we enjoy most about designing spaces is finding that magic intersection between form and function. Where there are unexpected surprises around every corner that are both useful and beautiful. Spaces that walk the line between being over-the-top and restrained, modern and timeless, and find their resting place in what we believe to be is harmony.
